The Cold War's Olympic Goose Chase

During the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, a wild goose mistakenly triggered a slew of false alarms and near diplomatic incidents as it flew over NATO radars. With tensions high due to the Cold War, the goose's flaps were initially mistaken for a potential Soviet aircraft breach, causing panic before the case of mistaken identity was resolved.
